Our mission on the Advertising Product & Technology team is to build a next generation advertising platform that aligns with our unique value proposition for audio and video. Spotify’s Ad business is growing! We're adding more advertisers than ever and big plans to transition our large direct ads customers over to Ad Studio. The Ads Billing team works with both Spotify for Artists (S4A) and Ad Studio to build bills based on advertiser spend and surface this data to downstream consumers such as Financial Engineering, Accounting, and more. There are many projects in the Ads Data Platform that we're enabling to facilitate that growth.

We are in search of a backend engineer to join our band and assist in expediting our work on some key initiatives such as, supporting enterprise accounts, new market expansion, and better payment features for our users. We pay close attention to bad actors trying to pull a fast one on us and advertise without paying! Our band focuses on backend jobs as well as data pipelines, so we are looking for someone who’s not afraid to dip their toes into the data side as well!

Who You Are

  • You have Java experience.
  • You have a proven ability to craft technical architecture with other teams in a platform environment (we collaborate with many up and downstream teams that we integrate with)
  • You have the ability to work in a tightly-controlled and risk-averse area. Given the nature of the work, we place a high emphasis on quality, correctness and accuracy. Test, test, then release!
  • Our band is based in Eastern Time (EST), and has a requirement for a 9-5 on-call to maintain our SLAs.
  • You have experience working with data jobs/pipelines. We own quite a few data pipelines and being able to contribute and work with those jobs is helpful.
  • You have domain experience with our (or other) Ads business. There’s a decent amount of ad-related jargon to ramp up on.
  • You have worked with payments/money/billing before. We love it when people bring ideas they’ve implemented before and can start fast.

The United States base range for this position is $156,275 - $223,250 , plus equity. The benefits available for this position include health insurance, six month paid parental leave, 401(k) retirement plan, monthly meal allowance, 23 paid days off, 13 paid flexible holidays. These ranges may be modified in the future.
